Umrah, a voluntary pilgrimage for able-bodied Muslims, provides an opportunity to seek forgiveness, spiritual renewal, and a closer connection with God. This pilgrimage can be undertaken at any time except during Hajj and serves as a meaningful visit to the birthplace of Islam and the holiest city in the Islamic faith. To go on this spiritual journey, individuals must obtain an Umrah visa from UAE before entering Saudi Arabia.
So, if you’re planning to travel from Dubai or the UAE to Makkah for Umrah, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply for the Umrah visa from Dubai, UAE.
Whether you need a visa from Dubai depends on your nationality. Some Dubai residents, based on their nationality, may need to get a visa in advance, even for short visits, while others may be able to get a visa upon arrival.
As per the latest information, Saudi authorities have extended the Umrah visa duration from 30 to 90 days. Additionally, visa holders are now allowed to enter and exit the country through any land, air, or seaport.
Note – The Saudi government now permits pilgrims to enter and perform Umrah on various types of visas. These include the Umrah visa, Saudi tourist visa, transit visa, and even the free 4-day visa.
For citizens of the UAE, there’s no need for a visa to enter the Kingdom. All they need to do is book their complete Umrah package from UAE, covering accommodation, transportation, insurance, and ground services.
If you’re a resident of Dubai and not a GCC national, you might be eligible for a visa on arrival, especially if you hold a US, UK, or Schengen visa.
For those outside this category, non-GCC nationals have a couple of options to obtain an Umrah visa:
